Our Pet Policy

We love welcoming pets and believe that with a little care and consideration from everyone, our cottages can remain a clean, comfortable, and happy place for all guests — both two-legged and four-legged.

Please note that we charge an additional pet fee of R65 per dog per day.

• Please bring along your pet’s own blankets, beds, towels, and shampoo, and keep them off the furniture and beds unless you’ve brought protective covers and/or your own linen and blankets.

• If your pets sleep on the beds, couch etc. guests are required to bring their own linen and bedding to protect our linen and furnishings.

• All visiting dogs must be well-socialized and non-aggressive, as there are other dogs and children on the property.

• Please do not bring pets that may disturb the wildlife, which roams freely around Schaefer’s Halt.

• Dogs on heat cannot be accommodated.

• Excessive barking and unruly behavior cannot be allowed — please keep lively dogs on a leash when away from the cottage.

• Owners are fully responsible for their pets’ safety. Schaefer’s Halt cannot be held liable for injuries, accidents, damages, or loss involving pets.

• Kindly roll up rugs and lift curtains if needed to avoid accidents or territorial marking.

• A poop scoop is provided — please use it and clean up after your pets at all times.

  Guests will be held liable for any damages, staining, or additional cleaning costs relating to furniture, beds, linen, rugs, curtains, or any other cottage furnishings caused by their pets.

Should any pet rules not be respected, guests may unfortunately be asked to leave the property without a refund.
